With the rise of social media it can be easy to get left behind. However with it being one of the most utalised free marketing tools for businesses today its not something that you can just create and think this is enough to bring in customers. Other businesses are engaging their customers daily, and you can be too! Read below for some hints and tips on using social media and why its nothing to be scared of!
Ok not that kind of engagement show in the picture on the right but customer engagement is the number one reason why companies use social media. After all it is a free platform where you can let your customers know what is happening in your business pretty much as it happens. Have a promotion? Stick it on facebook. Have a funny picture of the office dog? Put it on instagram. Not only does this make your company more human it also engages your customers so when you do run a call to action campagin they are more likely to respond.
Any way that you can have your brand message infornt of customers, is an opportunity for a potential sale in the future.

When you customers are engaging with your post, its not just them that will be able to see that. Their friends will also see the post they are interacting with.
The global community that social media has created means that your business doesn't just have to be limited to the 20 mile radius around our office or house. If you have a business that sells shoes? Why not sell those shoes to australia? After all your customer that does live 5 miles away might have a friend the other side of the world that wants thoses shoes they are wearing in their lastest instagram picture?
Reviews... One of the best and possibly worst parts of social media. Customers can leave reviews on your social media, something that many people will use if they are deciding whether to use your company.
By giving your customers 110% engaging with them on a personal level thorugh facebook and social media, they will become strong brand advocates. Giving you those 5 star reviews that you truly deserve. These brand advocates will also reccomend you to friends when asked for referrals. And as we know, word of mouth or word of text over social media can be a powerful thing, just look at how many videos go viral every week,

Business pages can now be measured. Want to know how many people have seen your latest post? Want to know how many people have liked you page in the last week? Well guess what, it's easy to measure.
Not only can you see your customer engaement you can see what your customers respond well to and what they don't care much about. Using these metrics that social media can provide you can change your content so your customers are getting exacltly what they want.
The most important thing, which why I've saved it till last is the brand awareness that you can create just by getting your message infront of your customers on a regular basis. Brand awareness is what brings back repeat customers. They might not be looking to use your services today, but what about in a week/month/years time? By having your name and content infront of them, it wil be your business they will think of when they are in the market for a decorator/mechanic/band.
